Sun Protection

Your #1 cancer threat is skin cancer, that's why it's important to stay protected from UV rays. It's a very good idea to use a lotion with sunblock in it, that way you'll be protected daily, without worrying about putting on sunblock. Your sunblock or lotion should contain SPF of at least 15. Wearing protective clothing is also a way to prevent sun damage.

There a various ways you can protect yourself with clothing. Hats and sunglasses are very effective. Many of the clothes you already own are naturally sun-protective. Polyester and nylon are best as well as other tightly woven fabrics. Cotton, however, is not a good protection against the sun. Darker colors are also more resistant than lighter shades.

Another option is to buy specially made clothing. Look for labels that say UV protection, or have a UPF (equivalent to SPF) rating.

There are also sun-protective additives that can be used in your laundry that raise the UPF of your clothing such as Rit Sunguard.

With skin cancer being such a high risk, it is crucial to stay protected from UVR. Although sun damage build over years, it is never too late to start protecting yourself.

BET Awards '09: Fashion Review

Best Dressed.

Keri Hilson in a black figure-flattering mini with colorful, bold designs. Keri made many worst dressed lists, but she made my best. Her dress is very different and fun.
LeToya Luckett. Simply divine.
Tyra Banks looking fierce as usual.
Singer Amerie. This dress is classic and beautiful and the shoes add just the right kick.
Alicia Keys showed off her wonderful legs in this green, embellished, long sleeved mini.

Ouccchhh, Worst Dressed of the Evening.

Cassie, this ensemble is very strange.
Meagan Good wears a very unflattering blue dress with a cropped top and black shoes.
Star Trek star Zoe Saldana looks like a poor, dysfunctional jungle girl.
Lil' Mama could have used her unique style to express herself differently than this.
Naturi Naughton, amazing job playing Lil' Kim, but you failed at this ensemble.
Do: Talk to your friend about how she feels about you seeing her ex or past 'hookup'.

Don't: Assume she's okay with it, even is she acts as though she is.

Get The Look: Lady Gaga Bow

Madison from Kentucky:
How Madison got this look:
"I pulled half of my hair up into a ponytail on the side of my head,
then split it in half.
Then I made a loop with each half,
pinning them in the front and leaving a bit
(you should have plenty)
to take to the back.
Once you've pinned the loops,
take the excess and wrap them to the back and pin.
Then, take the loops and pin the hair down to make it look more solid."

Thank you Madison for your submission!
